Re: Wintering

I overwintered three single 8 frame deep hives this past winter. Gave the hives a sugar block and pollen patty for food stores through the winter. Pulled 8 frames of honey from one of hives in June. It is now in a single deep and two mediums. The second one is in a deep and medium. Lost the third hi...

Re: Swarm-4/30/18

Yes. Jess and I caught a swarm that was issuing from one of our hives. Jess caught a queen right away and we had put abot half of the swarm into a nuc box. We noticed that the cluster was not wanting to break up so we moved that box and started another box. Got the remaining bees into that box and m...

Nucs For Sale

I have three nucs ready for sale. They are splits from my own hIves with 2018 queens. They will be sold in a five frame cardboard box or you may bring your own five frame wooden box and we will transfer the frames to your box. The queens have already laid two rounds of brood that have emerged and th...

Re: Drones 2018

Helped Sally check her hive late this afternoon. Her hive came from the big hive I had last year that swarmed on March 22nd and then the hive we started with the swarm, swarmed again on May 14th. Her hive is a 8 frame set-up with a deep and two medium supers. They had built a lot of drone brood betw...

Re: Drones 2018

I had the same thing happen in my best hive last year...it swarmed on March 22 and a couple after swarms. It never successfully requeened it self. But I got three more new hives from the swarms.

Swarm 03/31/17 - High Point

Arrived home from work Friday around 5:30 to find another swarm in the bee yard. This is the fourth swarm this year. It landed in the same place as the other three swarms. We had a hard rain shower right before I got home and these girls were not happy about breaking their cluster. Took three stings...

Swarm 03/24/17 and 03/25/17 High Point

I had two more swarms to arrive in my bee yard. These were not from my hives. The one on Friday, 03/24 arrived around 1:30 pm and was still there when I arrived home from work at 5:30. Sally and I put them into an eight frame deep hive body and gave them a frame with eggs, larva and capped brood. Th...

Swarm 03/18/2017

High Point, Guilford County Swarm arrived in our bee yard today at 2:00 pm. I don't think is from our hives. Put them in Sally's five frame nuc box. We did not see the queen, but I believe she is in the box. They settled in nicely and started orientation flights, flying out and coming back in. Will ...

Re: Drones

Drones are out flying today! Been seeing one or two at the hives the last couple of weeks. Today saw a lot of them coming and going. The sound of drones flying all around the hive, can't miss it. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1599112263437749&set=a.966750846673897.1073741834.10000016973166...

Re: Don't Let Your Bees Starve

Girls bringing in natural pollen and taking up the pollen substitute I put out for them. I popped the top to the hives today to check the sugar block I gave them back in December and put some substitute in the hive for them. https://www.facebook.com/donna.r.wallace.7/videos/1572934786055497/?l=61409...
