fgmo
Since I didn't get a response from this thread, I ordered both thymol and fgmo in bulk. If anyone wants small amounts, I can let you have fgmo by the quart or gallon, and I have thymol packaged in 50 gram bags.

They found them on boats and docks. I refuse to believe our great government workers found 100% of the swarms arriving.
So my guess is a few swarms got by and colonized

Kurt, They found AHB in FLA. while I was still living in MS. I left there in 1985. We may still have a little while to wait.

requeening with Russians
Kurt, Will you be fogging with the russians? If so, please compare the results, rather than just saying how the russians are doing, since we don't know how your prior queens were doing. We need to know the difference.
Thanks

Bee keeping help
OK. Next best thing is go to the website below. I spend an hour or two there every day. It will teach you everything "book learning" can possibly teach you.

Feeding the bees
Bruce, I have never used top feeders, put the entrance feeders work well without dilution. Remember that if you dilute honey, fermentation sets in immediately. If they don't clean it up in two or three days, it will sour.
If you ask on the forum here, someone may want to buy it to make mead.

Ripley's believe it or not
Yes, When I picked up the hive and removed it to find her, I set the box back down to reach for her. When she went in the hive, I didn't pick it up again. I just left the excluder off to keep from lifting the hive body again and disturbing them more. "A mistake." I would learn later.

Well, I got my answer. Both swarms left. I now have an empty box. So goes beekeeping.

This afternoon I walked out on my back porch just in time to see the sky filled with bees. I watched until they started settling, I thought in my grapevine, until, on closer inspection, I discovered they had moved in with the swarm I caught in High Point yesterday. Since I had put a queen excluder b...

Swarming is definitely not over yet.
I caught another one yesterday in High Point.
Not a large swarm, maybe 3 quarts, but still a swarm.

honey turning to sugar
Sorry, I know nothing about locust honey, but all the books say any pure honey will chrystalise."sp" Some takes longer, but all will eventually. I would not trust anyone who says their's won't. It is most likely a mixture of honey and corn syrup or other add-in.
