Just use the stumps. If they see my picture, they may throw GCBA out of NCSBA. :P

Re: What to do with frames after a hive has absconded

It says " which is specific to leaf eating caterpillars".

Wax moths aren't leaf eaters. I would contact forum member Zulu by PM and get some from him, go to Beez Needz, or see me. We all have the Zentari available.

Re: What to do with frames after a hive has absconded

I would freeze them all. Put a super with frames in a large trash bag, seal all edges with duct tape. Freeze for 24 to 48 hours. Store bag in cool dry place, such as basement. Repeat, until all are done.

Re: Suicide Swarm-9/6/15

She still has 42 days or more to run 2 brood cycles, if she has bees to cover and bee bread to feed them. I think I would move a strong hive and put her in it's place, thus giving her their foragers. May or may not work, but would be a good experiment.

Re: Not expanding to new frames...bees possibly forming a un

As Ski said, don't have more than one box of empty frames. If the 2 bottom boxes are not fully drawn, remove the third box. They will not draw new wax if they have nothing to put in it. Feed to get it drawn, or wait for the fall or spring flow. Then they will draw as needed

Re: Swarm-8/1/15

I wish you luck. I hived a swarm Thursday evening, just to watch them depart in about 10 minutes. They settled on a low branch, so we waited until nearly dark to put them back in the hive. It worked, they all went in. Carried them home. Friday morning, I carried a jar of sugar water and a feeder out...

Re: poor, poor zulu

All we did is move the bottom box off the bottom board and they poured out. Don has been contacted to come out and take samples. They didn't give up. 10 minutes and a half block away, they were still at us.

poor, poor zulu

He took 40 plus stings today, while wearing shorts.

I took as many, but mine were all above the belt line. :D

I sure hope he feels better tomorrow.

Add the frames, leave the robber screen on, and move the nuc 20 feet or more at night.
