Is This True? A Penny on a Sting?

I just got an email from my son in Calif. "Mom is this true?" I will have to ask the folks who would know. The article says a lady working in her yard got stung by a bee and hornet. Both swelled, got infected. She had to go to the Drs. for antibiotics and he told her the next time she gets...

What kind of bees did you get? Mine were late and are just now starting to hatch out. Mine never act like that. I may be pushing it but when I go to put the syrup in I don't wear any protection. They don't come to the back of the hive to get me. I only wear my garb when Wally has been over and we a...

Myra gets Flogged, OH No !

First the bees got her now Rusty the rooster jumps off the roost and floggs her. Rusty never has done that and Myra is in the coop a lot. :?: Could the smell of the bees getting her set the rooster off? This is wild.

Myra ran out the chicken hole. Not her day for sure.

Myra, my Doberman got her first 'Bee Therapy' treatment.

My poor baby hasn't been to my new hives since I've had them about 3 weeks now. She was by the chicken coop and for some reason I wanted to take a peek to see how the top feeder looked. When Myra saw I didn't follow her to the coop she came a runnin' down to the 2 hives. I was concentrating on the ...

 Here comes another (stupid - ??) question but how does having the hive in full sun get rid of this problem? My poor baby girls (when I finally get them that is) will be in partial shade as I have a yard full of oak trees etc. I can't put them in the pasture as that would be dangerous. What is...

Sorry I didn't make the meeting

Had a fox attack and thankfully nothing was taken or killed. One rooster lost his whole back end. (All tail feathers) My dog and I got outside fast enough to stop it from chasing the rooster dowm. Had traps to set so wasn't able to make the meeting. But if anyone needs some just contact me. Kurt, so...

Dog gone I passed the beginners class. But they probably wouldn't fail you unless you didn't get any right. :P

They didn't say how many I missed or anything. I guess I'm good to go then,,,, like I wouldn't if I failed. My bees will be coming soon.

It's no biggie. Being new to the world of bees I am just curious about a lot of things and peoples opinion on things. I think I will also go with the bottom entrance and if in a couple years when I know more about bees, hives and such maybe then try some new things. Thanks for all your help. :D

Hey Kurt,

How you doin'? Where in my post did I say anything about a feeder? What I want to know if any of you Beekeepers use a top entrance rather than a bottom?? It makes it harder for preditors to enter the hive. Thanks.

Does anyone have Top Enterance for their bees?

From what I've read I think the top entrance is good for many reasons. I have 2 hives getting ready for my bees in April so do I just put the entrance on top and the cover?

If you have a top entrance tell us what you think of it.
