Re: "old " honey

This was helpful Have not noticed any odd smells like oranges. Will definately eyeball the frames to look for damage. Damaged frames will be feed to the colonies.

Thanks.

Hello group.

I have several medium suppers that have not been extracted. Still capped. Is there any reason not extract and share with others

Virus and Swarms

Big day today. I went to the office to get something out of the shop. On the way spotted a honey bee swarm on a rose bush. Got permission to collect it. Ran to shop and collected a hive box and frames of drawn comb. Collected them an headed to the house. While I was in the apiary, roof of the shed ,...

Re: Pollen

I noticed the same thing over on Rankin Place. They seemed to be busy when it was warm. I got a feeding in during the warm spell. Guessing ought do an inspection soon if we can get above 55. The seasonal forecast I saw suggest a warmer milder winter....

Irritable colony

I have one colony that just will not tolerate inspections. Compared to the others, this one is the most defensive. Guess that means the best thing to do would be to re-queen?

Re: Really cold weather

Had plenty of food but not enough bees.
Looks like I lost the queen earlier. It had been cool/cold enough I had not gone in for a couple of months. Had two mediums of honey.
These were combos of a removal and a swarm.

Off we go into the new year!

Re: How do these things happen?

Morning Guys, So it is not to late to do splits? I have 2 of six that are going gang busters in terms of numbers. The three captured swarms have taken some time to build up dues to the loss of last years drawn comb while in storage by those ugly little critters that love comb. Option: Remove brood f...

clear plastic pint or smaller honey jars

Afternoon,

Going with a building team to Mexico Wednesday and had the random thought about taking some of my honey with me. Sooo, anybody have a couple of clear, small plastic honey containers I might have/buy?
