Re: Hive fell over - bees attacking me
thanks. I am going to go back out there later when my sister can be here, in case I need hosing off again. The bees just clung to me. My jeans were too heavy to get many stings, but my arms and torso look bad. I am going to wear a coat this time!

Hive fell over - bees attacking me
I looked out at my hive this morning and it had been knocked over. I wetn out with my smoker, but the bees are so angry that I only got one of the supers on before I had been attacked and had about 40-50 stings. I need some advise/help on how to get this hive back up. Should I do it at night? Thanks...

Re: Ow! Stung in the face and crazy comb inside
Thanks for the information. I will check when I go back in - I am not sure if the frames were all pushed to the middle when I looked or not. I had already been stung and was really just trying to concentrate and not panic. The cool thing was that my kids all took a piece of the comb to school today ...

That looks amazing. So, did you just pick them up? I really would like to see this in person or on a video. I wonder if youtube has it or maybe Zulu can post it on his blog.

Ow! Stung in the face and crazy comb inside
I have two new hives. I checked and feed them yesterday. I wasn't wearing my gear at first and got stung on the forehead. Today my eyes and forehead are pretty puffy. I think I will not forget next time. My bees seem to be busy making comb and the queen was running around on a frame. The only...

Re: 2011 3 Pound Packages
Glad to know it is not radium, since they came from the Nuclear City. I meant to thank you two that day, but I was too excited about the bees to really worry about the humans!

Thank you
Thanks for all the information. I wasn't sure, since I am trying to decipher my notes from class, read the books I have and apply some common sense.

How many 8 frame medium hive boxes should I have and more
I have two hives, brand new. I have two medium hive boxes, 8 frames on each, with a reserve 8 frame medium super for each. I didn't put the third one on, since I wasn't sure if new bees would just fill up the bottom hive first or really how that works. My question is - should I put on the third hive...

Re: Great Sunflower Project - plant pollen producing LEMON Q
So, all of those packets of sunflower seeds I bought this year are for naught? I had skimmed the site http://www.greatsunflower.org before, but I must have missed that about the pollen. Well, I have plenty of room in my yard, since it is a rental and pretty bare. I will visit the site again an...

Re: Beetight: Free online bee hive tracking and record keepi
So what is the brick method? I am assuming that it means positioning a brick on or in front of the hive to mean certain things? Can you break it down?
Thanks.

Thanks.

Thanks for your help. I went back and looked it up in the Brushy Bee catalog. So, my first mite count should be this fall? Thanks for your help.

Re: Shopping List for Two Packages I Ordered
Here is what I have went with so far. Two 8 frame english garden hives with copper top (I couldn't help it they are pretty!) each has 3 8 frame hive supers, entrance reducer, IPM bottom board, hive stand, inner cover, hive top feeder with floats. I have black superframe in the bottom super. The othe...

Re: Mite-Away Quick Strips-NEW Info on use!
Thanks for the information. I am a newbee and have to admit I had information overload during class. The mite-away quick strips do what? What are the advantages? I apologize in advance for any eye-rolling that may occur after reading my post

When are the bees coming?
Hey, I must not have written this down. Can anyone tell me when the bees are coming?
Also, I have a mini-van and frankly admit that I am terrified of putting them in the car with me. Any suggestions?

I passed mine as well! I was worried because I finished so quickly I thought either I actually learned something or was really, really disillusioned. Congratulations. Does anyone know when the bees will be here?

Missed the meeting
My daughter came home feeling really sick. We ended up at the doctor's with her having strep throat. I really hate I missed the meeting Thursday.
I decided to just go with a newbee kit this year since I am obviously not computing everything! Thanks for all the input.
