I notice my hive was leaking honey. After opening it I saw webbing and caterpillars. Suggestion on how to save my hive?

Re: Question for Discussion Insulated bee hives
My thoughts are not just for the winter. If you think of a tree in the it is dormant, bee would have a fixed temp. In the spring , summer and fall the tree is pulling water from the ground to nourish the tree and maintain it's temp. I would think this would enable a hive to have a constant temp rang...

Question for Discussion Insulated bee hives
I wonder if anyone has seen insulated beehive boxes? I wonder why I have not seen any. When we had that cold spell several weeks ago, I covered my hive with insulated blankets, leaving the entrance hole open. Several days before I covered the hive, I measured the temperature of the with my Non-Conta...

No stored honey in my hive
I just finished inspecting my hives and I found no stored honey. This is a new hive in spring of 2014 and has been very strong. I found capped brood, and uncapped eggs but no honey. Re: are these queen or drone cells
Thank everyone for help, after reinspecting the hive it was easy to see cells with double and triple eggs in them. I sealed the hive and moved it several hundred yard and dumped. Any good worker I hope will make it back to the other hive. The laying worker will become chicken food.

Lost all my bees what to do with the honey
I lost my second hive this week leaving me with 5 out of 10 frames with honey. Should I freeze the frames and leave the honey for new bees I plan to get in the spring or extract the honey so the frames are empty.

Re: Robber Bee Screen
I have been having problems with robber bees but I did not have time to order a screen. I found this link and tried it. It works well. http://www.colonialbeekeepers.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=98:how-to-make-a-robbing-screen&catid=24:education-information&Itemid=43

Re: super hot weather
Thanks,
I took a drip irrigation line , had it drip into a small dish with stones at a rate of 1 gal per hour. I also put a few spacers between box and top cover. I hope that will give them more air movement.

Bees that can not fly
I have been watching my bees and I noticed 1 bee who was not able to fly. I captured her and have her in a jar. Do bee stop flying and walk around in circles before they die or could it be something else.
