My Wife uploaded our label to avery and it was cheaper than most places. You can go through their standard label service and probably save a bit more.

Swarm 3.31.24 Easter Sunday
Just sat down with my family outside for lunch and a swarm went into my swarm box 30 feet away from us. Hard to say the size, but it was a nice cloud and a cool experience for the family.
I'll check it and move it in a couple of days.

Swarm 3.30.24
One of my hives swarmed. Swarm commander and tinging brought them down. Maybe 3 lbs.

3.29.24 first swarm
First swarm of the season for me. They moved into a dead out hive I planned to clean up this weekend. Next two days are going to be warm and I suspect more swarming will take place.

Re: Red maples blooming already?
I'm seeing the bees bringing in bright yellow pollen (like goldenrod color) today. I do not see any Maples blooming in my area of SE GBO.

Nice swarm I caught in my backyard on Thursday. I don't "think" they are from one of my hives.

Re: Bees at the Cooperative Extension
That is awesome and great job guys. For the folks on this forum these hives allow GCBA to use the Extension office for our monthly meetings and Christmas parties for little to no cost. Thank you for all the hard work to get this done and help maintain them!

Re: John Payne-Equipment & Drawn Comb
I spoke to John today and he still has 10 frame deep, medium, and shallow hive bodies, some frames(drawn) that are still available.

Swarm caught 5.25.21
My swarm box caught another swarm. Not sure of the size but look forward to finding out here in a couple of days. This is the second one for me this year.

Re: Swarm trapped 5/20/21
That's really interesting. I have a swarm box that captures at least 1 swarm each year, sometime two. It is a 10 frame medium and a 10 frame deep. I only use medium frames in both. I'm still a new beekeeper and the things I noticed are: -They like old comb -they like solid bottom boards -they like r...

Re: Nectar flow
I'd say the flow has begun. Tulip poplar tends to be my gauge, but I'm already adding supers for honey. Several of my hives are already nectar bound even though they had plenty of room just a week before. This hive was only 4 deep coming from winter and now it's mostly filled with nectar (I stopped ...

Propolis Tincture
I was cruising around the internet learning more about what to do with the propolis that I've collected. I came across "Propolis Tincture". It's a way to take propolis and use it as a health "benefit" (for humans). Similar to how beeswax can be used as an ingredient in lip balm. ...

Swarm 3.26.21
First swarm showed up at the house (not mine) 3.26.21. Covered 2 med. frames if that. Crazy girls decided to swarm the next day (from the box I put them in the day before) to the same spot. I found the queen, put her in the queen clip, and put them back in the box. I released her from the queen clip...

Re: Small hive beetles
Don Hopkins mentioned a couple months ago a higher than normal shb counts this year (2021). Personally, I'm seeing a high number of SHB very early this year, most likely b/c of the shb population that over wintered. Last year was a tough year for me in south gbo related b/c of shb. I have a similar ...

Re: Hive Carrier
I moved the hives about 100 yards. I considered the 3 ft method, but needed a faster way since I have a bunch of trees being removed around the hives. I ended up purchasing the unit from Mann Lake (via Amazon since it was cheaper). It was worth the purchase since those hives had at least 80-100lbs o...

Hive Carrier
I'm looking to buy this hive carrying tool from Mann-Lake. It can carry up to 150 lbs. I have several hives to move, the tallest being 5 supers tall/8frame medium. If you have any other recommendations on how to move a hive, please share!
