tulip poplar

I have seen some petals of bloom on the ground in Summerfield here, probably knocked down by squirrels, so it looks like the bloom is just starting and with the weather warm the next week or so should see the full bloom out.

I had ALOT of honey on this hive going into winter as I never harvested this one last year (I spent the summer in Canada) but it was also CHOCK FULL of bees. When I ...

Wax Dipping

Sounds like a great seal for the wood, but wouldn't it attract wax moths to the hives, at least to the outside if they weren't painted but just dipped?

That's a great tip Kurt, I was wondering about that. I had modified a syrup feeder with an additional section that I put patties into, but the SHB like to eat'em and lay in them, which is not helpful in my trying to destroy their population. I'll put pieces in the middle of the bees next time. Just ...

Hey! Thanks for the warm welcome, it's been a cold winter! Yes, the bees are taking care of them, but I'm worried they'll become more prolific. I have my bees in a forested area with morning sun and I understand if not in full sun it can present a problem. This just sounded like a nice, natural deat...

Sorry about the late notice guys but I won't be able to be there after all. My daughter has her first violin lesson tomorrow morning and I thought my hubbie could cover it for me, but he's not able to. Will be at the meeting though and look forward to seeing you there. TJ
