Re: State Beekeepers Meeting July 7-9, 2011 Elon, NC

I have never been to a state meeting so being this close I want to go. I can't spend the three days there but I would like to see the vendors and displays. Question is, do I have to register to do that or is registration for the classes? Hows this all work?

Re: LAST NIGHTS SWARM

That's what I did, dropped them about a foot into a cardboard nuc. They did not appreciate it. By the way I've heard people say beekeepers get immune to stings, just how many stings does that take. My arm is swelled tight as a tick.

LAST NIGHTS SWARM

I had a good size swarm last night when I went to check on my bees. I immediately went and collected my swarm catching supplies and got to the task at hand. I spritzed them with sugar water and tried to drop them in a nuc. Not a big problem but they were about 15 feet up in a tree. I must have done ...

Re: Beekeeping supplies in Liberty

I have bought a few things from them. I needed some deep foundation on a Sunday, it was nice being able to go get it. They are reasonably priced, cheaper than ordering and paying shipping.

TWO QUEENS?

I have one hive that has two deeps and one super. The super is almost full of capped honey left over from winter. When I inspected it this weekend there was capped brood on two frames in the super, nothing but nectar and pollen in the middle and lots of capped brood in the bottom deep. I could not f...

what's the correct mixture to feed now? I just looked at two of my hives and they are dead. It looks like they starved. I was counting on a good fall flow that did'nt happen.

wax moths-two questions

1 . Hows the best way to store frames to avoid wax moths?
2. I've got a weak hive that I have combined with another. They are using about four frames the moths are in the other, what should I do with them? Thanks

Thanks Wally, I checked two hives and found almost no brood. Both seem to be on the weak side and had a bad attitude. They are usually very gentle. I was concerned about the lack of brood though.
This forum is a great tool, thanks for the hard work.
