I am so proud of myself. I feel like a new forager on her orientation flight. I was told of an open air hive in Kimesville. I went to check it out yesterday and it was true. Right on a thistle bush!!!! I took a new hive over and sprayed them with some sugar water. I heard that may work well on this type of hive. They were SOOOOOO calm after the misting that I cut the thistle around them and not one bee cared. I put my hand on the huge stalk right under the hive while my son sheared it. I held them on the thistle stalk and showed the land owners. They were quite amazed at the ease of it all. I looked like a real pro. Shoot...even I thought I knew something. I put them in the hive and all the bees returned in for the night with no problem. Now they are in my yard and hopefully more happy. Thanks for all the training Wally. If only they were all that easy.
