Wow, what a hot day. Just checked the thermometer on the hive stand, in the shade, and it was 94 Degrees.
It is 10 till five, and my strongest hive is bearding like crazy. I peaked under the hive, and I can't even see the slatted rack for the bees covering the screened board. There are even bees hanging out on the bottom of the screened bottom. My week hive is even bearding quite a bit. The hives are in the shade now, so the temp should go down. They get full sun from 7:30-4:30. I raised up the cover on the strong hive to give them a bit more ventilation.
Something wired happened to me in the Garden today. I was so hot and wet with sweat, a bee landed on my leg and started collecting water. That was wierd.
First Really Hot Day
That is funny about the bee. When my wife and I get our shoes wet and get in the garden they land on our shoes and drink while we work. My hives are bearding as well. I will be building me some hive top ventilaters. They seem easy to build. I would just buy them if it wasn't for shipping. It is HOTTTTTTT!!!!!!
Hive top ventilators
I have seen the ventilators with the small solar pannel on them to run the fan, they are advertised in bee culture magazine, is that what your talking about?
If not, elaborate for me.
