Honey bound?

Recently I had a hive that consisted of 2 deeps and 1 medium.
THe queen was failing and almost no brood was present.
I decided to requeen and observed that she looked honey bound.
Both deeps were full of honey except for a frame or two. The medium was completely full.
I added an empty medium and a new queen.
3 weeks later, she has layed out 4-5 frames in the empty medium with the rest being occupied by honey. the top deep has 7-8 frames of brood.
I contend that a honey bound hive will right itself and move honey to accomodate the queen. I can not explain the amount of brood present any other way.
Just a thought.

I contend that the bees will arrange the brood nest under and within the honey, but not above the honey. They will rearrange the stores to accomplish that.

With all the swarm activity and everything, I had a good field force due to a break in brood production. The one hive which was queenless, is truly honey bound. I will be watching them in the next few weeks to see what they do with it.
