bee program for children

Post by melanie »

May 23rd, 11:13 am.
Greetings,
I was e-mailing to see if anyone on the forum board has experience with facilitating a bee program for kids. We have a program about bees and pollinators scheduled for June 24 from 3:30 - 4:30 at the Kathleen Clay Library (1420 Price Park Dr.). Please contact me at melanie.buckingham@greensboro-nc.gov
Thanks.

If anyone is willing to put on the program for Melanie, I will be glad to help you prepare for it and you can use any equip. I have that is needed, including the box of honey straws.

I can't say that I have experience, but I'm willing to give it a go.

If you contact Melanie and take the lead and I'll help get it together . I'll also go and assist, if you want.

Thanks Ski. I probably will want them. I have e-mailed to offer to speak and have asked for more information about what is wanted and the age of the children. As soon as I know more, I will start preparations.

An hour goes by very quickly. This is what I used for sixth graders and we went over by 15-20 minutes. The 6th graders had lots of questions. But it was fun.

The presentation was a blast and the time flew by. About 40 people, lots of very smart young boys and girls with lots of questions. Wally and Ken, I can return your items, but I would like to have the posters and the observation hive to use on Wednesday July 23rd and Friday July 25th, if possible. I have been asked to do a bee presentation at the Boys & Girls Club and back at the library on those dates.

(I also got a new library card while I was at it!)

Glad the presentation went well. I do not see a need for the posters right now so yes, hang on to them.
