crowded hive

Post by drewgrim »

i have one hive that is real crowded, a few weeks ago i added an empty foundationless frame and now that is full. the hive is real full now and there seems to be no room left. i have one super sitting on top that is full of honey and another on top of that, that is semi drawn out. should i keep taking out full frames to make space for them, or just let them be?

Semi drawn out??? Is that 10% or 90% drawn out. If they still have 25% or more to go, they should be fine for now. At 80% full, add another super, or harvest the full one and put it back empty.

i would say about 10% but the super below it is fully drawn out they just wont cap the stinking frames.

I would switch the supers. They are more likely to cap the top super first, then work downward.
