Well, I have not been on here for a while. I ended up loosing one of my two hives and the other one is in fair condition. The pretty days are showing good pollen coming in, and when I went into them a few weeks ago, I had eggs, developing brood, and capped brood. I hope that they will start to build up quick over the next few weeks. It looks like the poplar trees are starting to push out some leaves, so hopefully a freeze will not show up to kill off the blooms.
Not sure about the dead out hive. I am guessing that they had a failing queen? Last year they went queenless, and I gave them some eggs to start a queen cell with. The result was one queen cell, that quite honestly was not very impressive. So I am guessing that they simply died as a result of her failing.
