Feeding question

Post by 4Paws »

Started my first two hives in April, English Garden, with nucs. They are expanding nicely and eating rapidly. I've been feeding heavy syrup, should I switch to light or stay with heavy?

This is fun!

Heavy syrup (2 parts sugar, 1 part water) is usually a Fall feed to help the bees put up stores of food. Spring is usually the time for 1 part sugar to 1 part water to supplement nectar and stimulate brood rearing. I'm feeding 1:1 to my package and nucs.
