Sugar water prep temp

Post by John Sabat »

Just wondering if anyone has experienced any downside to diluting with hot tap water rather than bringing to a boil on the stove?

I have been using tap water (130 degree F) to make syrup and the bees seem to be taking it well for the third year and so far no signs of nosema apis, not sure what else you have in mind? I have used a home made mixture of Honey B-Healthy and use it from time to time with the syrup.

I use tap water for 1:1, heat for 2:1. 2:1 won't dissolve totally in tap water.
