Queen?

Post by Jeanne »

Thanks for your help--I purchased bees 10 days ago and cannot see eggs, although the bees don't seem particularly unhappy. We tried to locate the queen today--but couldn't. We see signs of strong of nectar/pollen storage. I think we need a new queen. Any recommendations?

To all new beekeepers---we have a great group of mentors out there. Rob Jacobs, our GCBA president, visited us at the crack of dawn today and looked through our hive to try and solve a mystery as to whether or not the queen was alive.
Rob found the queen--and made some suggestions as to what to do next. She hasn't laid many eggs at all in the last ten days--but at least now we know that she is there! Thanks Rob!
