Any swarms yet?

Post by Ron Young »

Has there been any swarms yet this year. I checkerboarded my one large hive, spread out the brood nest of the small one, and added ten frams to them, so I hope my bees stay in the box this year. Time will tell.

Picked one up yesterday in Greensboro. Nice sized Italian about 5 lbs.
Hanging in a cypress tree about 20 feet up.

Have not seen but the one swarm around my hives. Wierd how they settled, then dropped back down and went in the hive. I wish I knew for sure they were out of that hive or not. Ended up splitting that hive, which started in March as a five frame wintered nuc.

Anyone else seen or heard of swarms?
