scales under hive

Post by beeramm »

I seem to remember from class that the white scales under the hive is not a problem. Is my memory correct and what it is the cause?

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but if you are seeing wax scales, the bees making wax will drop it sometimes and if you have a screened bottom board, it may wind up under the hive. When bees are using up stored honey and uncapping it, you may see shards of wax under your hives. Is this what you are asking about?

Yes, wax scales under the hive. It must be that they are occasionally dropping them as they are drawing out the comb. Thanks, I could not remember that one.
