Honey for Burns

Post by Jacobs »

I tried picking up my push mower by the muffler yesterday afternoon. This was not a good idea. After testing the limits of the English language, I put an ice pack on the two fingers and got out gauze, tape, and honey. I covered the fingers/burns with a generous amount of honey and wrapped the fingers, moderately tightly, with the gauze. The pain was reduced almost immediately, and in about 15 minutes, it was gone. I am not looking forward to this morning's shower and bandage change, but I will be curious to see what the burned area looks like. One pea sized blister had come up before I got the gauze in place.

I don't know if it is the magic power of honey or the magic power of the placebo effect producing the pain relief, and I don't care to know as long as it works.
