supering

Post by beeramm »

Is there a time of year that you should consider not adding a super because it is getting too late in the season or would the potential for overcrowded conditions dictate adding a super? Thanks

If I am putting on supers now, I am not expecting the bees to draw wax unless I am feeding them heavily. I might put on drawn, open comb to give the bees more room if they need it, or even undrawn frames. If I am putting on undrawn frames, it is with the expectation that that box will be coming off during fall when I am reducing hive sizes for over wintering.
