New Nuc

Post by mike91553 »

You won't believe this. I made up a nuc on 7-15 using 3 frames of bees from a strong hive that was bearding heavy all the time. I gave them 2 queen cells from one of my favorite queens.

Today I looked in to see if the cells were open and they were gone, torn down but to my surprise there was a big fat queen and new eggs plus 3 day old eggs laying down. Is that fast or what? I thought I might have moved her with the frames so I checked the other hive and found fresh eggs there as well.

Evidently the original hive had 2 laying queens and I accidentally moved the unmarked one. Sometimes things work out even better than you hope for.
