National Honey Bee Day is set for August 22, 2015
The 2015 National Honey Bee Day theme, "Ban Ignorance, not
Honey Bees" is closely connected with the core value of NHBD and
one of the reasons for the existence NHBD programs. To educate the
public about beekeeping, while helping the overall public understand
the importance and contributions that honey bees provide.
Ignorance is defined as: A lack of knowledge or lack of information. In regards to beekeeping and honey bees, it is our job to educate others.

Re: National Honey Bee Day - August 22, 2015
Join the Extension Master Gardeners, the Guilford County Beekeepers Association, and the 4-H Clubs in a celebration of National Honey Bee Day--Saturday, August 22, 2015, 9am-12 noon.
This free, family event will take place at the Extension Demonstration Garden, 3309 Burlington Road, Greensboro, NC (behind the building where we hold our meetings).
Activities will include--
Learn to create a bee hotel
Flowers and herbs that attract bees
Bee hive displays
Pollinator garden tours
Honey tasting
Scavenger hunt
Proper pesticide usage
Vendors
Our celebration continues with last year's theme--Bee Friendly to Bees. The national theme involves educating municipalities/governmental bodies about the benefits of permitting beekeeping. Our major municipalities have already shown an awareness of the benefits of honey bees to city environments. Greensboro eased restrictions on beekeeping in 2008, and High Point recently ended restrictions on beekeeping.
