IPM board and mite count

Post by DuaneB »

How do you use an IPM board with grids? Is is a total count over the whole board we are looking for? Or less than a certain number per square?

Thanks

This publication describes mite management, including use of the sticky board. I suspect current thresholds are lower than these numbers. The drawback of the sticky board is trying to figure out a reasonable approximation of the number of bees in the hive. If you wind up with a very large drop, it will at least alert you to the problem. I would probably leave it in for 72 hours and divide by 3 to get a 24 hour drop.
