Snow on Outer Covers
Most hives at home look like the one on the left and not the one on the right.
I take the melting as a good sign--strong enough clusters to be producing heat. That matches the relative strengths of the 2 hives when I examined them about 10 days ago. Then again, melting snow on the outer covers COULD mean clusters near the top of the hive and potentially in need of feeding.
