I distributed a 5 lb batch of fondant among 3 hives today, and there was some moderate interest in a plate of pollen sub I put on a cinder block.

Took a quick peek back in the hives around 5 pm and there was good activity on the fondant and I saw some capped honey in the top super.

The weather looks reasonably moderate over the next 10 days, so maybe all three will survive the winter.

How can I tell when I no longer need to feed?

When the hive starts gaining weight. Lift the back of it regularly so you will notice the change. You will also likely see the steady in and out traffic, rather than hovering and sporadic movements.
Probably sometime in March.
