Gibsonville cutout

A few weeks ago I received a call that a tree had been cut down that had a honeybee colony. I went over and had them cut the log so we could stand it up. Note the plywood entrance where a branch had been cut off.

This had been put up by another beekeeper in the spring. The home owners indicated that another beekeeper was supposed to remove the bees(trapout) the past spring, he set up a hive on a platform collected a box full of bees, removed the box and platform and never returned. I have since heard that there is beekeeper that does this, He boosts up his hives in the spring with a box of foragers for the nectar flow. I do not know any names or want to know.
Anyway, Joe and I went over with a chain saw, a hive and the bee vac and removed the bees.
Here is a pic of Joe.
