Hey guys. Does anyone have any experience/success overwintering 5 frame Nucs? If so, any helpful advice?

The only nucs I overwintered were 5 frame mediums. I had about 4 boxes, 3 with bees and 1 with honey. I placed them between full sized hives for some protection from the wind and would periodically check and replace honey frames over winter when weather permitted. I've only done a few of these. Last winter's nuc did not make it. It had a marginal population of bees in the fall. I should have either combined it or boosted it with a frame of brood and nurse bees going into winter. It was also on the outside of a row of hives.

Is anyone else overwintering nucs?
