Observation Hive

Post by BeeLover »

I am looking for someone to display an observation hive on Thursday, July 11th, 2013 at Bur-Mil Park around 6:00 p.m. This is for a memorial service for a beekeeper (we took the class 10 years ago!) who was an outspoken proponent for the preservation of the bee population. There will be time available to speak during the service and more time after the service for those that are interested. Even if you don't have an observation hive, I am more than willing to take suggestions or consider alternatives.

Bobbi was a first responder with the Red Cross on 911. Her death is directly attributable to the toxins she was exposed to at ground zero. After her return from NYC, she thrust herself into protecting the environment and fell in love with the idea of beekeeping. I just really want the bees to be represented at her service because they meant so much to her and ultimately to all of us.

Bobbi was a leader in Greensboro of several herbal and wild food organizations. She had many goals left to achieve, and I believe her celebration service will be an opportune time to educate a receptive community about the seriousness of CCD and the fate of our food supply.

It will be a festive event - no tie, no jacket, bee attire just fine! I thank you for any help or suggestions you can give me! Phone calls are fine!

If you can help this lady with the memorial service, I want to remind you that Kurt Bower donated an observation hive for the club to use. You can call me at 336 740-1703 and you can pick it up at Tuesday night's meeting or I will get it from the Ag Center and you can pick it up at my home.
