Marked queen cleaned?

Post by BDriggers »

I'm interested in what some of you guys that mark your queens think of this...I marked the queen of my strongest hive with acrylic paint a week 1/2 ago. Friday I did a light inspection and found her....unmarked! Not even a spec of paint. I may have 2 queens or a cleaned queen...before I know for sure on the next warm day, what's your guess?

Either/or. The workers will definitely try to remove the foreign substance from their queen. They are often successful.

On the other hand, it is written that about 15% of normal hives will have 2 queens sometime during the year.
