Dragonflies In The Bee Yard

Post by donwal »

When I went to check my hives this afternoon, there were dragonflies flying around. I've never seen this before and wondered what was going on. As I was watching them I soon figured it out...they were having a meal at my bees expense. As the bees were leaving the hives the dragonfiles were catching them in mid air. After I lit my smoker they left. I hope this does not happen again.

I hope you didn't have a new virgin queen going out to mate.

That was my worry, I have three nucs with newly emerged queens. I'm going to check for them today.

Update:

Queens are alright...this pic is the last nuc and new queen.
