Well I got a top bar Hive for my birthday last year.
We heard a presentation at the State Beekeepers spring meeting last year and I thought the kits they sold were nice but I changed my mind after I saw the price. But my family bought it for me so I can't complain. Should be a something fun to play with. Now I am just trying to figure out where it should be placed.

How are your bees in this hive?

No bees in the top bar hive yet, plan on putting a swarm in whenever. The comb is just something for the swarm to start on, like putting a frame of comb in a standard hive.

On April 20 one of my hives issued about a 3 pound swarm and I put them in the topbar hive.

About 24 hours later you can see the cluster through the viewing window in the topbar hive hanging from the topbars.
