Some kind of bug

Post by DFisher »

I lifted the hood Saturday on a strong hive, and under the top was some kind of creature. There were probably 20 of them, about 1/4" to 3/8" long, very narrow (thickness of a pencil lead at most). The immediately hid in the cracks between the top and side pieces of the top, so I could not get a pic. I have researched but can't find anything that looks like them. I don't see any down in the hive. Any ideas?

It sounds like earwigs (forked looking backsides). They are harmless.
