early Spring

I have recently spoken to some larger beekeepers and they have determined that the bees have already kicked it in gear for Spring. There are reports of frames of brood as well as drones being laid. One beekeeper has reported 4 or 5 frames from his Italian bees.
Another beekeeper has reported Maples in bloom and pollen coming in.
Could this be an early swarm year?
I have observed swarms as early as February in the past. Should be an interesting Spring.
