First swarm of the year-3/8/17

Post by Wally »

Keith and I went over to Staley and caught a swarm this afternoon. 6 foot pine tree, about a 3 lb. swarm. Just bent the tree over and shook them in the hive.
Wish they were all that easy.

I seen some pictures ...nice! Wally how do you think the colder weather coming in will effect the swarming behavior of the bees.

I don't think it will affect it at all other than on mating flight days. If it's too cold when the replacement queen needs to fly, she won't get mated and the hive will die.
