Swarm-8/2/17

I got a call this afternoon and went to a construction site on Battleground Avenue. The cluster of bees was around softball size, being generous. This time of year, bees don't do this because things are going well. I have them in a nuc with a jar feeder on, and if they can survive the inevitable probing this time of year, I will be curious to see if there is a queen with this group of bees. If not, feeding them up may get them ready to combine with another hive.

I received a call yesterday evening about a swarm in Randleman. I was busy at the time and couldn't go. The caller said he would check it out. An hour later he reported they had built a large paper nest. I told him he could keep that ""swarm". :P

This swarm does have a queen that is laying, so it will get a boost of brood, more feeding, and a robber screen instead of the 1 bee at a time entrance reducer
