Vinegar in syrup

Post by DuaneB »

For a gallon of syrup, how much vinegar do I need? I have noticed some mold growing on the wood in my top five feeder.

Thanks

I mix sugar water at 2 parts sugar to 1 part water and add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar/gallon. The thick mixture and vinegar really seem to retard the growth of mold/fermentation & cuts my storage space in half this time of year. I thin to +/- 1:1 as needed. I have had a half empty gallon jar of the 2:1 with vinegar on my kitchen counter for at least a month & there is very little mold in it. I would not hesitate to use it.
