Swarming swarms!

In another sign of an oddly mild winter and early spring... I collected two prime swarms on March 3-4 and set them up for a friend of mine. We gave them two deep drawn frames each, fed them, and they proceeded to draw out two 8-frame deeps each. Everything looked great, and we then added a medium super of foundation which they never touched. Checked them a little over a week ago to discover they had both recently swarmed! We found plenty of swarm cells, and left them with the best 3 capped ones. So they actually swarmed just over 1 month from swarming originally...

Last year I had a split swarm on me, but this is the first time I've had a captured swarm swarm on me!

Did you have a queen excluder under the super?

Actually, no. I specifically told my friend to leave it off until that super was drawn to try and avoid exactly what happened...

Strange. I don't know what else would cause it.
