$75.00 gets you five frames installed in your equipment with a laying queen already introduced.

Kurt, rather than start a new category, I thought I would ask here. I signed up at the last meeting for several of the nucs. Not having dealt with them before, what are the mechanics of pick up when they arrive? What will I need to have to pick them up; What will I need to bring and do? Thanks.

Hey Jacobs,

I'm not Kurt but I can add a little info about what happened last year.

Last year we were told what day and time the nuc's would arrive, we even got a phone call about 30 minutes before they arrived. They arrived April 14 about 1315. The nuc's were wax coated cardboard boxes with 5 frames of bees with a queen. They went down the list calling out names and handed out the nuc's. I put mine in the car and drove on home, I let them set for an hour to settle down and transferred the frames into the wooden deep I had set up on cinder blocks and put the hive top feeder on with 1:1 sugar syrup.
You may want all your wooden ware in place on blocks or whatever before the nuc's arrive. It was exciting it was like bringing a new baby home lol.
BUT That was last year.

This year the Russians (if we can get them) will again come in the cardboard nucs. I am unsure of the timing as I do not know who is picking them up yet. Will have more information as time goes by.
As for the Italians...
A couple of beekeepers will actually go on site and pull them placing the frames into the beekeeper provided nucs or hive bodies. This will take some time (30 nucs) and will require a couple of sharp people to find the queens as they go. A fun experience!
delivery times will be determined as we get closer to April.

I guess I'm just dense but Kurt, I'm just not clear about this. Beekeepers will pick them up and be put in beekeeper supplied nucs. Does this mean I have to have nuc boxes or my deep supers to place the bees in? I'm not sharp eyed at all and will have real trouble locating the queens, especially if they are not marked. Please clarify the steps for Italian nuc delivery/pick up. Thanks.

I don't know for sure, but I think that means you will drop off your hives or nucs and a few selected beeks will go get them from the supplier.

Darn, I was going to volunteer to help until I saw that requirement.
