I am new to this and will take any help i can get. For the past four or five years I have had bees ina tree in the yard and watching them I thought they were neat. I have seen them swarm and tried to get them into a hive I have here at the house but that did not work. So now I would like to learn hands on or take class/

Hi Jimmy:
The good news is that we have beekeepers all over Guilford and surrounding counties that will help you get started.
One of the best ways is to simply come to some of our monthly meetings (
http://www.guilfordbeekeepers.org/members/pg2j07.pdf) and get to know other beekeepers as well as learn different aspects about beekeeping.
Our beginners class does not start until February of next year so there is no reason to wait until then.
Wally will undoubtedly chime in and has helped several of new guys and gals in the world of beekeeping.
Hope to see you soon,
Kurt

Yep, I'm here.
Jimmy, give me a call anytime and we will talk and/or play with bees.
Check the forum later today, as I imagine the guys will be talking about the extraction we did this morning. I have another extraction, maybe two, coming up soon if you would like to attend. Also, anytime you want to go into a hive or two I would be glad to show you around.

Hey Jimmy
Welcome to the forum.
I am one of this years newbes so I know some basic stuff and get advice from Wally a lot.
You missed a neat extraction today with Wally. Wally has this stuff down pretty well so things ran smooth. Wally estimated about 4 lbs of bees came out of the building and they ended up in the hive with the queen. At least the rest of the bees acted like she was in the hive. It was amazing to watch and more fun to get to help and learn. Its a great way to learn.
Welcome,
Ski

I also live in Mcleansville. Welcome to the forum. Wally got me started with bee's, and he is a great mentor. The cut-out today went very well. It was neat to do, and the bees were well behaved.
