I have seen some reference to detecting or treating VM with powdered sugar. Is the joke on me or did I miss something in class that covered this topic. If this is true could someone please describe the procedure.
Thanks,
John

John,

No joke, it really wasn't covered in class except for the sugar shake to do a mite count. The treatment is on beesource, some people seem to really like it. I have not tried it.
Good luck,
Ski

There is a very good article on this in the current American Bee Journal
Proposed is a 2-prong attack on managing Varro without chemicals.

1. weekly or bi-weekly dusting with powdered sugar

2. using drone foundation to congregate and remove mites in capped drone cells.

I have the issue, can get copies for any1 that wants to see it.
