I am not having trouble with ants but I ran across this and thought I would post it.
I have heard of the borax and jelly but this one is new to me.

Get Rid of Ants
>Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it
>"home," & can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so,
>esp. if it rains, but it works & you don't have the worry about pets (bees)or small children being harmed!

May want to put it on a bee proof container.

Caleb's solution

Caleb had this notion that if he put a baby food jar upside down near and ant hill he would capture the queen and kill the ant hill. Then he read some "dirt doctor" article about cornmeal killing them and he already knew about borax mixed with sweet stuff because that's what I use in the house. He didn't want the bees to get to the borax but he didn't trust the ants to eat enough cornmeal alone this time of year to kill the whole colony sooo.....

He mixed up cornmeal and borax and then added just enough pancake syrup to make it sort of stick together a bit then he put it in a baby food jar and turned the jar upside down right on top of the ant hill. Two days later we had a totally dead ant hill with no new ones popping up nearby!! He has now been put in charge of killing the rest of the ant hills in our yard and garden but the bee yard first.

Cornmeal and borax with a little sweetener , I had not thought of that. Thanks for sharing the idea, it might be the best of the best.
