Build up

Just wanted to check in and see how fast your hives have built up over the past several weeks. I will be going in to mine tomorrow to see what the pollen patties and the feeding has done. Two weeks ago I had capped over brood and eggs. I want to see how that all fared after the couple of cold days we had.

I was in my two hives on Friday the 15th.
Both hives had maybe a quarter of a frame of capped brood which is a lot more then they had a little over a week before. So they are building up.
I had stopped the open feeding of sugar syrup but they had not bothered the pollen patty on top of the brood frames. But I put a fresh one on anyway.
Should have done a mite count by now so I feel like I am behind the power curve.
Hope yours are building up, you had gang buster hives last year.

Just a couple of visual observations while I wait. LOTS and LOTS of pollen being brought in. It's as if the bees are giving up on the sugar water for the pollen right now. Maybe they have eaten all of the patties I gave them. They are also prefering the sugar water over the honey frames I have left open for them. Any thoughts on that one??? Can't wait to go in!!!!!

Preferring the sugar water over honey is normal.
Think fresh vegetables vs Army MRE's.
The honey is the hives Emergency Food Supply when nothing else is available.
