Wally,
Which tool do you prefer to place your horizontal reinforcing wire in foundation? Wire Crimper or Spur Embeder. Page 18 of the Brushy catalog.
Also, do you have any Bee Quick for sale or do you know where I may obtain some?
Thanks, John

I use the embedder from Walter T. Kelley. It only takes a second and I don't roll off the wire and punch a hole in the wax.

I am going to order bee-quick within the next week. I'll order you a bottle if you want. Dadant sells it.

I've got their catalog. I would have to burn gas to come and pick it up. Thanks for the thought. Now I remember you showed me your embedder. It was the electric type and is it the one you are still using?
Thanks

That's the one. I bought the transformer and embedder. They are costly, but will last for many years.

Of course, you can bring the boxes down here and do them. It will cost you the gas to get here only.

Wire Crimper

I just purchased a wire crimper, and to be honest, I like it a lot. It would be a great addition to the electric embedder.

It's purpose, as spelled out in the directions, is to take up the slack in the wire after you wire your frames. By making the wire crimped, all the slack is removed, and the wire is banjo tight. I think that it would make the electric wire embedder do a better job.

I personally use the spur embedder, and did not realize until the other day, that I was supposed to be heating it up to aid in embedding the wire. It seems to work much better on the crimped wire as well.

(After all, I do not get my wire as tight as Wally. I really don't know how he does it, as I have tried to pull it with pliers, and usually just break the wire.)
