I talked to a fellow beek today who told me he was feeding sugar syrup, three gallons a week to a few hives. Should we be feeding this time of year? Mine are working hard bringing in something. just wandering

Weigh your hives. They should weigh 50 lbs. more than they do empty, to make it through the winter.

I have a hive that has pollen and nectar that I am not feeding but, I also have a couple of late spring swarms that have no stores of nectar or pollen that I am feeding to help out before the fall flow that I hope is still coming.

November 23, 2008 Sunny 53 degrees.
So far it looks like the hives made it through the cold snap we had or at least there were bees in the feeders and walking around on the top bars for the quick peak I made. Added some warm syrup to the feeders today. Had one hive bringing in orange pollen.

Do you think its safe to remove the robber screens?
