Does anyone have their hives hot dipped? It is suppose to add 20 years to the hive and help. I want to find out more about that too. You can find out more about this at www.queenrightcolonies.com I think I read where they do this in Australia. So much to learn, so little time...

If you haven't already you can do a search on Beesource for rosin and a few posts will come up. I do not have a dipping tank but it would be nice if someone in the area would be willing to provide this service for a fee. From what I have read on beesource its a lot of work, time consuming could be a bit hazardous and not cheap. But it sure does make the hive bodies look nice as well as extend the life.
Good luck,

Sounds like a great seal for the wood, but wouldn't it attract wax moths to the hives, at least to the outside if they weren't painted but just dipped?
