Evening Folks,

Got to be around the hives this weekend. If I remember correctly, the small brownish/orangeish spots on the hive entrance is poo. The other entrance does not show any.

Is this a concern, if so what should I be looking for?

Thanks.

They likely got into some cornstarch, or similar. Like coke or Pepsi. If it doesn't get any worse, it shouldn't be a problem.

If it does get worse, fumigellan. "sp"

There are some good articles on Nosema Cerana in last quarters newsletter you can refer to.
If you see a lot of spots it is more likely Nosema Apis which needs to be treated for. Spotting during the winter months is more common than this time of year and should be monitored for the health of your bees.

It has gotten worse that two - three weeks ago.

I will look for the article.

I assume it is available at the usual sources. Should I treat both even though the other one shows no sign whatsoever?

Got the the meds from Brushy. Do you need to treat more than once??

I believe directions indicate more than once.
Yes, people are treating for Nosema C. even though they can't see it.
