How to do a trap out.

Post by Wally »

The following is a series of posts dealing with the step by step procedure of a trapout. Since the posts will move around as different replies come in, I am posting links to each of them here, so they can be found easily.

Here is a video of a trap out demonstration I did at the Bud3 celebration on Apr. 9, 2011.

Wally- any suggestions on doing a trap out 20' up on a brick wall? What is the best way to get a hive body near the cone?

Great info, Wally. I have a situation at a friend's house that he wants to address in spring. There is an active hive in a tree between his driveway and a utility right of way. The gas company has informed him that they are cutting the trees out (including the bee tree) next year. He wants me to help him get the bees out and rehome if possible before they do so. This was a great help.

If I do this in early spring, and set a few swarm traps up within 50' or so of the original hive, would that help potentially catch the queen and remaining bees absconding? He live in a neighborhood and, ideally, I do not want to send them into a neighbor's yard to cause them issues.

The links didn't open for me, but they do here.....

If you saw the video only, go here for the complete story.

If you want the gas company to work with you by cutting the tree to your specs, or waiting until you have trapped them out, call me for a story about the city of Greensboro and when you repeat it to the gas company, they will get VERY friendly.

Also call me if you have questions or want on site supervision. 336-3022708...
